Andrews Commons is the new communal heart of Brown’s Pembroke Campus, and provides a central place for first-year students to eat, socialize and study. It is the second of Schwartz/Silver’s student life projects at Brown University, following the opening of the Stephen Robert Campus Center in 2010.
The Commons includes a new food servery, dining areas, meeting rooms, a seminar room, a 24-hour study center, and outdoor dining spaces. The main level has seating for 200 at various dining tables and lounge areas while glass-walled meeting rooms offer small group study and social spaces. In the servery the two main stations serve pizzas, paninis and pastas and an Asian-fusion menu based on fresh produce. The upper level includes a 24-hour study center facing an outdoor terrace with seating around a large gas “fire-pit.” Linked by a new central stair, Andrews Commons has debuted as a vibrant new center for students on campus.
