Dana Hall School

Schwartz/Silver is delighted to announce that we will be working with Dana Hall School in Wellesley on the renovation of their Dining Hall and Student Center. Founded in 1881, Dana Hall School is a wonderful independent school for girls, and we look forward to collaborating with them on the project. Learn more about Dana Hall on their website.

Walker Hall at Worcester Academy

At Worcester Academy, Schwartz/Silver has designed the renovation of historic Walker Hall (c. 1889), as well as upgrades to two adjoining historic buildings – the Megaron (c. 1905) and Adams Hall (c. 1892). Walker Hall is being reconfigured to provide liberal arts classrooms, administrative offices, major meeting spaces and, at the lower levels, new spaces for the visual and performing arts.

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette recently featured an article about the restoration of the historic building – “Worcester Academy upgrades historic hall”. View more images from this project and learn more on the Walker Hall project page – Worcester Academy, Walker Hall.

Frick Art & Historical Center

At the Frick Art & Historical Center in Pittsburgh, PA, Schwartz/Silver Architects has worked closely with museum staff to reimagine the visitor’s experience of the historic grounds and collections. The Frick Art & Historical Center encompasses the grounds of Clayton, the former home of the Frick family, and is the legacy of Helen Clay Frick, a noted collector of art and antiquities.

The construction of a new orientation center, breaking ground on June 6, will introduce visitors to the center with interactive displays and provide space for museum programs. Additional renovations to the center are planned as future phases of the master plan, including improvements to the education center and a renovated home for the historic car and carriage collection.

Bill Bodine, director of the center, was quoted in Pittsburgh’s Post-Gazette, “This has been my goal all along — to fulfill our vision of serving the community.” The orientation center will help support the many programs that the Frick Art & Historical Center hosts throughout the year, from concerts to children’s events.

McCoy Building Featured in ArchDaily

Schwartz/Silver’s recently completed GSA Design Excellence project, the A. H. McCoy Federal Office Building Modernization and Security Pavilion, has been featured as a selected work on the website ArchDaily.

From ArchDaily: Constructed as part of the General Services Administration’s Design Excellence program, Schwartz/Silver’s modernization of the A. H. McCoy Federal Building and new security pavilion has dramatically changed the urban landscape in Jackson, Mississippi. The architects took the opportunity to redefine the relationship between the city and the federal government at this site. The re-envisioned plaza provides a landscaped oasis in the city for the employees and visitors who utilize the building. And by reaching out towards the corner of the site, the invitingly scaled security pavilion creates a welcoming entry point for the building.
