Last week, students from the Boston Architectural College's NOMAS chapter toured our office and participated with us in a dynamic roundtable discussion of projects, constraints, and opportunities. As a firm committed to creating diverse and equitable environments, we were excited to discuss how our profession can better prepare young professionals in their careers. The future of the architectural profession is very bright!

Schwartz/Silver’s 87 Trumbull Street at Yale University unites the Department of Economics which had previously been scattered in multiple buildings along Hillhouse Avenue and creates a home for the Tobin Center for Economic Policy. Engaging with the scale and context of the architecture in the Hillhouse Avenue Historic District, the new building connects to four existing structures and provides a variety of spaces that foster collaboration among students and faculty. The LEED Gold project is the first all-electric facility at Yale University.

Schwartz/Silver Architects will be presenting at the American Library Association’s annual conference in Chicago on June 25th. Firm President Angela Ward Hyatt will be moderating the panel we are calling “Understanding and Advocating for Net-Zero and Energy Sustainability in your Library Building Project.” We will be partnering with BKV Group, using a case study from each of our firms to facilitate the discussion. Project Architect Kelsey Laser will be speaking about the challenges and strategies for success at the Charlotte & William Bloomberg Medford Public Library. Attendees will learn about pre-design planning strategies for budgeting and the pursuit of supportive funding. And perhaps most importantly, they will gain tips for engaging with their community and library stakeholders in a dialogue about the long-term value and benefits of Net-Zero Energy. #ALAAC23 #library #sustainability
Schwartz/Silver associate Kelsey Laser volunteered with the BSAxBPS program, which connects kindergarten classrooms in Boston with local architects who talk to students about basic principles of building design, structures, & urban planning.
