Peabody Essex Museum Collection Stewardship Center
The Peabody Essex Museum has announced that it is moving forward with its expansion plan, infrastructure improvements, and new programmatic initiatives. The plan includes a new 40,000-square-foot wing of galleries and an 80,000-square-foot offsite Collection Stewardship Center to be designed by Schwartz/Silver. The building will provide unprecedented capacity for the study and care of the PEM’s collection of more than 1.8 million objects. Research and access to the collection is a key priority for the museum and this facility will allow it to enhance stewardship of its rich and storied holdings. The Center will be located off-site from the museum’s main campus. The museum is currently identifying potential sites within the region.
