All five are longstanding members of the firm and have demonstrated their expertise and commitment to excellence in design and client service. Senior Associates

Peter Kleiner
Peter Kleiner, a graduate of Syracuse University, has been with Schwartz/Silver for eighteen years. During this time he has demonstrated his talent on a diverse range of projects, including as Project Architect for historic renovations at Phillips Academy and the restoration of 255 State Street, and as Project Manager for the award-winning McCoy Federal Building. Peter is currently leading design teams for projects at the Dana Hall School and Worcester Academy.

Nelson Liu
Nelson Liu has been with Schwartz/Silver for over twenty years, including his time spent with the firm as a high school intern. Through his tenure he has been involved with some of the firm’s most recognizable projects, including the new East Wing of the New England Aquarium and the renovation of the Boston Athenaeum. Nelson is currently the Project Manager for the renovation of the historic Colby Hall for the Boston Psychoanalytic Society & Institute. In addition to his work for the firm, Nelson has taught design at the Boston Architectural College.

Associates

Clair Colburn
Clair Colburn rejoined Schwartz/Silver in 2012 following her first tenure with the firm beginning in 2000. Clair has contributed to many of the firm’s projects, as Project Manager for libraries in Lewiston, Maine and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and on the design team of the Princeton University Andlinger Center for the Humanities. Educated at Haverford College in Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan, Clair has taught at the Boston Architectural College and been a guest critic at Northeastern University. She is also the President of the Belmont Library Foundation.

Kristen Giannattasio
Kristen Giannattasio has been with Schwartz/Silver since 2003 and has served as Project Manager on a number of projects in the office, including Brown University’s Stephen Robert Campus Center, the new Orientation Center at the Frick Art & Historical Center in Pittsburgh, PA, and a private residence on Cape Cod. A graduate of Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, Kristen is active in the local architectural community, and has taught classes at both Northeastern and Harvard Universities.

Michael Schanbacher
Michael Schanbacher joined Schwartz/Silver Architects in 2007. He has been involved with a varied range of projects with the firm, including the competition for a new hotel in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, the award-winning McCoy Federal Building, and as Project Manager for Andrews Commons at Brown University. Educated at the University of Virginia and Rice University, Michael teaches studios at the Boston Architectural College and is on the Board of Directors for the TAC designed Five Fields neighborhood in Lexington, MA.
