Andrews Commons, Brown University
Andrews Commons, Brown University
Providence, Rhode Island
Andrews Commons is the new communal heart of Brown’s Pembroke Campus, and provides a central place for undergraduate students to eat, socialize and study. It is the second of Schwartz/Silver’s student life projects at Brown University, following the opening of the Stephen Robert Campus Center. The Commons includes a new food servery, large central commons space, meeting rooms, a seminar room, a 24-hour study center, and outdoor dining spaces. The main level has seating for 200 at various dining tables and lounge areas and glass-walled meeting rooms offer small group study and social spaces. The upper level includes a 24-hour study center facing an outdoor terrace with seating around a large gas “fire-pit.”
