House on a Pond
House on a Pond
Private Residence
For this sculptural home on a quiet pond outside Boston, it was the clients’ priority to preserve the natural attributes of the existing landscape: rolling topography, mature trees, and ground cover. The five-acre site is characterized by a dramatic 70-foot drop to the adjacent pond. Designed as a spiral form, the house wraps around an internal courtyard, flowing from the low point of the site up towards the crest of the hill. The end of the spiral floats free of the ground, terminating in a cantilever marking the entry.
